Resurrecting Dead Darlings - A Palindromic Process of Artistic Rebirth

Resurrecting Dead Darlings- -A Palindromic Process of Artistic Rebirth explores how unused ideas and personal document archives can be brought to life through the redefinition of a performance. The project is divided into three phases: incubation, gestation and birth/resurrection. The project emphasizes the artistic process as a dynamic journey – a platform for continuous change, the embracing of unfinished work and creative exploration, bringing to the fore the symbiotic relationship between authors and viewers/co-experiencers.

In 2024, Thar Be Dragons (TBD) has been working on the first part of the project called incubation. The artistic process has been shared both in Helsinki and Berlin through demos and performances as well as through online catalogue focused on the artistic journey of the project.

Incubation follows the journey of two dancers on a pathway through deep bodily concentration, in communion with sound and its designer. We like to think of the work as a “happening” rather than a performance, intending that the dancers are witnessed in their experience and navigation of an unscripted event - to journey through something rather than demonstrate a journey. Here, the body becomes a vessel, a monument, a materiality where vulnerability arrives as an elemental medium. The eye is invited to look closer into the moving body and the body to feel the energetic exchange of the shared space. Our scenography remains simple, with black cables and speakers against a contrasting white space, completed by a suspended cable and microphone over a noise box. Affective soundscapes permeate the space and the bodies within it; a fertile space where materiality, form, and abstractions collide.
